Ligeti: Musica Ricercata [re]imagined

On December 9 in Geidorf Kunstkino, Graz I will host a cinema premiere of my multidisciplinary film in collaboration with an amazing visual artist from Ukraine Anna Prydatko, who has agreed to participate in this gigantic project, and has created animated stories on Ligeti’s famous piano cycle. In this project we will blend and intertwine two worlds: a real one where some pianist plays piano, and an imaginative one.

This project is a tough baby - I have been filming my video part during the Covid lockdown, and Anna is creating her animated part being in the war zone of Kyiv under regular attacks of Iranian drones and power outages. The premiere was initially planned on May 28, on Ligeti’s 99th Birthday, but because of the extremely hot phase of bombing and danger of Kyiv occupation during the spring, which didn’t allow Anna to live normal life and finish the project on time, the premiere of the film is postponed to December 9.

If you are around Graz book the date!

For international folks: stay tuned for a digital premiere announcement.
